It is to address this need that the SkillAir Cove has been established.
We want employers to contact SkillAir CoVE to let us know what Engineering
training they require for the future of their businesses. Where possible
we will attempt to provide that training from the resources of the
three colleges, Northbrook, Farnborough and Brooklands. Where this
is not possible we will put employers in touch with other training
providers who might be able to deliver their training needs.
We would like employers to be involved with the SkillAir CoVE in the following ways:-
| Taking ex- students for full time employment | |
| Offering work experience for current students | |
| Providing apprenticeship places | |
| Using our Part-66 programmes | |
| Attending our employers’ events ( See SkillAir Events ) | |
| Providing feedback on SkillAir CoVE courses | |
| Donating surplus equipment which may be used as training aids |
We currently have 5 employers who are acting as a Steering Group
in advising SkillAir.
Currently the SkillAir CoVE supports two areas of Aircraft engineering; maintenance at Brooklands and Northbrook and manufacture at Farnborough.
Northbrook produces students who will go on to achieve their A licence soon after leaving the college. It is also expected to run an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Apprenticeship commencing in September. This is subject to attracting enough employers and students who wish to follow this course.
